Some prettiness for Sping

Its Spring!! Thank goodness! Time for open windows, generous flowers, and lazy picnics.

Last night I went to a vintage fair at Burnside and picked up a few goodies.

This dapper little bow tie for my man

 These awesome 1940s pastel coat hangers. There's 16 of them! So stoked!

 They look so pretty with my vintage lovelies.

And lastly I got these adorable little gift cards

 Our lovely friend Kurt and Rachel gifted us with these goodies. 

How sweet is the hot water bottle cosy?!

After a particularly difficult job this month I splurged and bought myself this magnificent specimen...

 Oh. She makes me so happy!

Other things that make me happy...

Finally I thought I'd leave you with a recipe that I've been loving. I've been cutting down on carbohydrates and sugar lately and adding more healthy fats to my diet. This bread recipe has been my comfort food. Its great with butter and vegemite or avocado. It is also gluten and Dairy free.

Golden Flax Bread

Ingredients

 2/3 cup almond flour

3/4 tsp sea salt

2 Tbsp. organic virgin coconut oil

4 large free range eggs

 3 tsp baking powder

1.5 cups organic flax meal 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Oil a 9 x 5 loaf pan. Melt coconut oil. In a medium bowl, mix dry ingredients together well. In a small bowl, gently beat eggs. Whisk in coconut oil. Stir wet ingredients into dry.  Pour batter into pan. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

 It looks kinda gross and boring but is really tasty and the texture is just lovely. It doesn't need toasting and stays fresh for about 4 days. Give it a go!

Around the home in June.

I don't have a great deal to show you today but I had to introduce you to my gorgeous new Orchid plant! I have promised myself I would buy one for 4 consecutive years now and this year I finally made it happen.

I'm pretty stoked with this little tablecloth I picked up while B was down. Does the job nicely I think!

I've made a little more progress on my balloon painting but have many more hours to go.

I adore Adelaide.

A beautiful few days in Adelaide with the lovely, perhaps loveliest Z & E, made for very, very, delightful memories. After almost a year and a half back in Sydney, I have been taking solace in the rare times I get to op-shop, the vintage style cafes I find on south trips and the occasional antique store. My poor, poor mind thought this was enough; amazing even. Upon returning to Adelaide I fell in love all over again with it and realised how much vintage perfection I was missing out on. I think I may have even gone into shock when on the day of my arrival E took me to a vintage cafe - I mean vintage everywhere AND a section for vintage clothes. We managed to fit in a visit to an amazing organic cafe/shop and had the yummiest breakfast, a great op-shop where I bought a few things for max and I, and more vintage shops. I was in love. 

What I didn't expect was to be blown away by the Gilles street Market even more! The outfits above are what we wore to the markets and boy did we have a good time! (Well I did, I'm pretty sure E would say she did too hehe!) More on those vintage goodies later.

E's house is a treasure trove of vintage things and I will post some of my shots of her beautiful home soon, but for now I've included my lil' Maxwell "posing" with her awesome vintage kids chair and wooden aeroplane.

remembering Adelaide...

As I patiently try to await my first trip back to Adelaide after moving home pregnant, my thoughts drift to certain good times.

That, and I was re-reading a magazine article all about how fantastic Adelaide is.

 Central Markets. The delectable delights. Lemon and chocolate - need I say more?

The black and white shot above was taken in queue for Lisa Mitchell concert. It's a really good shot of us I think. Natural. We hadn't really long known E, Z and Elishia's brother N? Okay, well Nathan, not sure if an initial suits him. Despite the newness of the formed friendship, I think we all knew it was a keeper.

It's beautiful how the city of Adelaide decided to grow poppies in the middle square.

The shot of well, admittedly, mostly green grassy hills, (the famous beautiful Barossa) I just had to share because it sort of represents what my mind's eye sees when the word "Adelaide" pops up. Does anyone else do that? I have this colour connection with Australian States. NSW=blue/grey VIC=Pinky/Red QLD-Golden NT=Dark Orange/Red WA=Dark Red TAZ= Deep Blue and SA= Green Green Green. Not sure if this came about when I was young learning the states and they were the colours on the map I was looking at...but I also think it suits the feel and weather of each place. While we lived in Adelaide, at least, it was remarkably green. The rain fell so much you wouldn't know there were water restrictions in place. In fact there was even flooding and summer storms - which I thought was normal being from Sydney, but was told in Adelaide it certainly was not!

Now Adelaide is a Chocolate Heaven. Haighs the best of the crop I tasted, although E had told me about a chocolate and wine tour which well, just sums up Adelaide right there now doesn't it?

The last two shots were when my very good friend who I don't remember ever not knowing, Natasha, popped down for a visit. We spent the day mostly in the city enjoying the old amongst new which is constantly on offer everywhere in Adelaide.
