Oh Spring! How I love you.

Happy Friday everybody!!
Spring has come early here in Adelaide much to the delight of all of its inhabitants.
Especially me :)
I did this painting of Peonies for Mum and Dad's 30th Anniversary last week.
It is now happily hanging above their bed.

My garden is coming alive and has gifted me with freesias (so far only yellow ones though. I've been noticing this in other peoples gardens too. Is this common for Freesias to bloom yellow ones first? Can anyone tell me?) hyacinths, iris's, a few orange poppies, lillies and lots of lovely lemons!

I love the way yellow goes 'pop'!

I did this little scribble whilst enjoying a rare afternoon off a few weeks back.
I thoroughly enjoy using water colour pencils and I particularly love doing my version of an old painting that I love. This one is 'The Emerald' by Mucha.

Here is my latest biscuit experiment. They are gluten free as always and so, so yummy!
Do give them a go.

In a large bowl sift together 50gm potato flour, 100gm chestnut flour, 1/4cup rice flour, 1/2tsp cinnamon, and 1/2 tsp mixed spice then mix in 50gm almond meal and 1 cup sugar.
To this mix add 1/4 cup almond paste, 1/4 cup rice bran oil, 1/2 cup chopped 70% chocolate, 1/2 cup roughly chopped roasted hazelnuts and 2 egg whites.

On a tray lined with baking paper roll them into little balls and squash down with a fork or your fingers.
Bake in pre-heated, fan-forced oven at 180 degrees for 20 min or until golden.

My green tin of yumminess.

And finally I thought I'd share with you my latest brooch by Emgee

I found this spoon at an Antique store and she cleverly turned it into this little beauty.
I just love it!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Love ~E xo

Turn Thrift Store Art into a Child's Silhouette

What a cool Idea from The Bee and The Bobbin

And so simple! She took her baby's photo, traced the siloeuette onto tracing paper and transfered that onto an old thrift shop painting colouring the area outside as you can see above. I really love this! I've seen it done where instead of this bright yellow-mustard colour above, the outer area was blacked out, which looked very dramatic. What do you think?

I'm slowly gathering (cheap) Ideas for decorating my new place and this one goes on the list!

Little Moments

Max had 2 Month Immunisations today - yes we decided to give them to him. Little thing screamed his lungs out and his face went red. Not surprising since that's exactly how he dealt with his last stressful situation - birth. So I pampered him today. Not much routine, lots of cuddles and milk time  where I actually let him feed-to-sleep. This was a moment where I put him down to sleep. Thank goodness for that little ducky who worked wonders on Max during and after the needles. Can you believe he's been smiling since? Let's hope it stays that way!

A haircut, a pretty dress, good food and My BABY!

Ok so tell me what you think of my new haircut - like? Should I grow it into a side-fringe as it always seems to want to do with my cow-lick, or keep it trimmed as above?

And now another installment of Steph's Dress:

Loving it! Why is it that some people just "get"the beauty in vintage, and others just miss the point? Well Steph and I love it. Do you?

Rie and Tom's Soup - YUM It was so good I had to share!

MAX!
Ending with my lovely baby Maxwell (Max). He's eyes are still ever so blue, his smile get larger and cheekier everyday. He's 2months old now but seems much older!

Delphiniums

I bought a bunch of Delphiniums this week so that I could take photo's of them for my art.
I have been so utterly charmed and delighted by them!

Is it normal to derive so much pleasure from flowers? I don't know.. sometimes I think it's a addiction I have.

Anyway here are a few of my snaps..

Brightening my bathroom...

and keeping me company while I painted today....

Here's me in one of my fave dresses which I have added to this post
as the colours now remind me of Delphiniums.

I can't wait to start painting them but I have 3 other paintings I must finish first :-/
Nevermind. I'm thinking I may even do one for my very own (imagine that) to hang above our bed.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend ~E xo

Babies, bonnets and bibs

I just listed these items on Etsy and had to share them with you because they are just too precious.

Antique crochet babies bib. Highly impractical if you ask me but oh so pretty!

Adorable little hat which makes me think of toy sailing boats.

And lastly this sweet little crochet bonnet which makes me think of how soft the top of babies heads are.

Love ~E xo
